客從東方來，
衣上灞陵雨。
問客何為來，
采山因買斧。
冥冥花正開，
颺颺燕新乳。
昨別今已春，
鬢絲生幾縷。

A guest arrives from the east
soaked by Paling rain
I ask what brings him here
a woodsman he says needs to buy an ax
somewhere blossoms are beginning to open
fledgling swallows pirouette overhead
since we last parted it's already spring
how much of your white hair is new
